Selamawi Project

An initiative of volunteers in partnership with Rotary that strives for a positive peaceful co-existence by building knowledge, integrating communities and improving the environment.

About  Selamawi

This name “Selamawi” itself is an Amharic term chosen for the very example it should be when describing a person, group or community as peaceful. The project encompasses a variety of programs under one umbrella which are all aimed at creating an environment that elevates peaceful coexistence and harmony amongst the communities in Ethiopia. Through our bold projects on the ground we push to change the status quo to produce a much more enlightened community tackling the current conflict and violence one step at a time.

Sustainable Environment Initiative

Building resilient and strong communities is more important than ever, especially in the face of conflict. Hence, our program focuses on strengthening local communities to improve the environment through initiatives such as sharing resources, establishing community gardens, working on local clean-ups, and planting trees. Help us by donating to this cause.

Digital Peace Visibility Project

Our program focuses on using the power of social media to dilute the current hate speech by creating a culture of the positive online peace dialogue, and resiliency to counter growing ethnic hate and violence in Ethiopia. Follow us and be part of the voice in sharing our messages on your platforms.
