The Peace Committee launched “I For My Country”, a youth-focused positive attitude program, for grade 11 and 12 students. The program introduced the concept of positive peace and taught positive messaging on social media. It also created awareness about volunteerism, community service, and living harmoniously in diverse communities during their university years. Over 200 students were trained, 80% of whom followed Selamawi on Facebook. More than 170 students participated in their river cleanup and the planting of 150 trees on their school property. Theirs was the first Interact Club to be formed in a public school. The next steps are to replicate this model across several high schools in the new school year which starts in September of 2022.
